Overview
As chronicled by the Scribes of Hubland, Taido is less a city and more a fortress carved into the very peaks of the Dragon's Tooth mountains. It is the ancestral home and primary military bastion of the Winged Ones. Its architecture is a direct reflection of its inhabitants: vertical, severe, and eternally vigilant. There are no gentle slopes or winding roads here; only sheer cliff faces, sharp-angled barracks, and high watchtowers that pierce the clouds.
Society & Culture
The culture of Taido is built upon a single, unyielding pillar: discipline. Every Winged One, from the lowest fledgling to the highest-ranking general, lives a life of rigid structure and military order. Individuality is secondary to the needs of the flock, and personal honor is measured by one's devotion to duty and martial prowess.
- The hierarchy is absolute, with command flowing from the Sky-Lord down through the ranks with unquestionable authority.
- Art is expressed through calligraphy and the forging of blades—disciplines that require precision and focus. There is no room for frivolity.
- Outsiders are viewed with suspicion, not malice. To earn the trust of a Taido native is to prove one's own discipline and worth.
Geography & Defenses
Positioned high in an unforgiving mountain range, Taido is a near-impenetrable fortress. The primary method of entry and exit is flight. For the flightless, a single, treacherous path known as the "Switchback Scourge" winds its way up the mountain, guarded at every turn. The thin air and unpredictable winds serve as natural deterrents, making any ground or air assault a fool's errand for the unprepared.
